Blogger's Quilt Festival

It is that time again when Amy from Amy's Creative Side is hosting the Bloggers' Quilt Festival

Twice a year, Amy gives quilters a chance to 'show off' a quilt that they made. Today is the start of the Fall 2012 Quilt Festival!
If your visiting for the first time, welcome! I hope you take some time and browse around my blog and come back again!
For my regular readers, I sew appreciate your words of encouragement. Thanks!
For this festival, I'm sharing my Loving Hugs Baby Quilt that I recently finished. This quilt was featured in the Dots on Dots blog hop on September 19th. The pattern is from Geta's Quilting Studio.

Keeping with the dots theme I searched my stash and settled on the multi-colored dot fabric as my main fabric and then built the blocks with coordinating dotted fabrics. This unique pattern was a lot of fun to make!

The blocks are 12" finished and the quilt finished at 38" x 50".

The back is a sweet print with elephants in all the coordinating colors I found in  my stash.

I FMQ in all the negative space and outlined each octagon. This baby quilt will be a gift for a special baby.

Be sure to visit all the beautiful entries in the Blogger's Quilt Fest! Much inspiration will be found here!

Bloggers' Quilt Festival

It is that time again when Amy from Amy's Creative Side is hosting the Bloggers' Quilt Festival (button on my side bar). Twice a year, Amy gives quilters a chance to 'show off' a quilt that they made. Thank you Amy! Tomorrow starts the Spring 2012 Quilt Festival.

If your visiting for the first time, welcome! I'd love for you to take your time and browse around my blog. I hope you find some things that you like and you'll come back again.
For my regular readers, I so appreciate your words of encouragement. Thanks!

I love that this Festival gives me the opportunity to show off a quilt that I made before I started my blog which means, I most likely never mentioned it before or showed you pictures. Oh Happy Daisy is a quilt that I made back in 2008.

The gerbera daisy fabric by Lakehouse was the main fabric in this bright quilt. The daisies were fussy cut and the coordinating bright batiks were set in a nine patch. The black inner and outer border gave great contrast to the brights. In the middle border, I used all the bright batiks pieced in a piano key border.

This quilt is FMQ with multi-colored bright thread in a daisy pattern. It was one of my earlier attempts at FMQ.
The daisy pattern seen in the cornerstone (below) is repeated in each nine patch block.

The backing is a bright green on green stripe and the binding is pieced with the batiks from the nine patches. It finished at 50" x 60".
I hope you enjoyed my 'show and tell'!

Tomorrow, head over to Amy's blog to find the link to many beautiful creations. Go ahead, get inspired!

Blogger's Quilt Festival

Welcome to all that have come to visit my blog from Amy's Quilt Festival.  I love visitors so I hope you will stay awhile and take a look around. I just recently featured this quilt I finished so if you have seen this before I apologize.  This quilt is the second in a personal challenge I have to make a quilt out of my 'less preferred' fabric in my stash. Since I am pretty much running out of room for my newer, much preferred stash, I challenged myself to use my 'less preferred' stash in every other quilt.

The bright cheater crazy quilt fabric was my challenge.

I actually really love the way this quilt turned out! It is so nice to be surprised to love a quilt I wasn't expecting to love. This pattern used a Stack and Whack technique that Allison at Cluck, Cluck, Sew shared when she was a guest speaker at Sew We Quilt. It was quick and easy and used up all of the 'less preferred' featured fabric from my stash.

I was also able to use up another piece from my stash for the backing. WOOHOO! Two pieces gone from my less preferred stash.

Hope you enjoyed it! Now make sure you visit other blogs at the fest

Spring Bloggers' Quilt Festival

It is time to join in the Bloggers' Quilt Festival over at Amy's!
This is my second time joining in with sew many talented quilters! If you are new to my blog, welcome! I hope you enjoy yourself and come back again! If you have been here before, thanks for coming again! I love my readers!

Today, I wanted to share a quilt I made about 2 1/2 years ago.  I made this quilt once before for a gift and fell in love with it.  It went on my 'to do' list for some time.  Then I made this one for myself!  It is called Red Herringbone.

It is made with several different coordinating homespun striped fabrics.  The diamonds and triangles are made with a lame which gives it a shimmer.  I first made this quilt in a class using homespun and flannels in browns and greens for a very masculine quilt.  The technique was fun to do and easy.

Making this quilt did bring on a challenge working with fabrics that are not as stable as quilter's cotton.  I am pleased with the results.  Do you like it?

Now hop over to Amy's to check out all the other talented quilters!  I'm linking up here...
