Finally, my finish!

I promised that I would have a finish later in the week and I was successful in accomplishing that goal!
The pattern for this quilt is Elvira by GEDesigns. Gudrun went live for a quarantine QAL on March 22 on YouTube. I played along using the Strawberry Fizz fabric line I originally purchased as a quilt kit from Bluprint. After receiving the kit, I realized that the fabric was too busy for the pattern intended. This pattern has many large pieces so the fabric works much better.
Each rectangular piece is sliced on the diagonal and a strip is inserted.
The backing is pieced from fabric in my stash.
I straight line quilted along the strips and stitched a diamond in each half. Inside the diamond, I FMQ a leaf design. In each strip, I FMQ pebbles.

It is a bit difficult to seeing the quilting.
This quilt is a wedding present for a couple that had their wedding postponed due to covid-19. After 3 months, a change in venue and only immediate family as guests, they got married.
This quilt finishes at 61" x 83"

Small progress in the sewing room

I'm still here in case anyone was wondering!
Since the end of May, my life has significantly changed and although my time in my sewing room is limited, I have been blessed with having my grandson (and his mom and dad) living with us.
Adjustments and routines are starting to get more established.
That's a good thing!
His swing was hung up this weekend in our neighbor's tree right next to our house. His smile says it all!
(we don't have a large tree so our neighbor gave us permission)
Filling some BIG shoes!
Walking along a local park's lakefront.
I DO have a few quilting things to show you.
The blocks for the Covered in Love charity were announced in the beginning of July. As usual, these blocks are red, white and blue stars! Any kind that you want in a 12 1/2" unfinished size.
Here are mine for this year!

Below is the graph paper design process I used based on a 9-patch.
These blocks were made from my scraps.
July also brought a new color for the RSC and that color was dark blues.
Here is my dark blue column
and all the columns together!
So far we have had 2 greens, 3 blues, a pink and orange. What will be next?

A couple of other projects that I have been working on are the t-shirt quilt for a special graduate. I had a bit of trouble getting more interfacing to stabilize the shirts but now they are all cut and puzzled together.
I added a 2" gray border and it is ready to be sandwiched and quilted!
I mentioned working on Elvira (quilt pattern by GE quilt designs) back in April.
It is almost done! I found enough time to sandwich and quilt it. I also got the binding sewn on and now I'm hand stitching it down. Hopefully, this will be a finish sometime this week!
My 'I Spy' quilt is also waiting to be sandwiched. And the Morewood Mystery Quilt has started! Learn more at Meadow Mist Designs. Are you joining? I am! It was so much fun last year!

April's Rainbow Scrap challenge block

For April's Rainbow Scrap Challenge, Angela chose light blue! I finally got around to completing my block using scraps from my overflowing blue scrap bin! It is always so hard to take a picture of just one months column block. Each column is only 4 1/2" wide unfinished.
Here are 4 months together!

I have seen quite a few house blocks going together during this Shelter At Home order. I have also been thinking about doing an I Spy quilt now that I have a grandson. With the suggestion from Allison at Cluck, Cluck Sew, I decided to make an I Spy quilt with houses. I didn't use her free house pattern because I wanted to use smaller squares of novelty fabrics. I drew up a pattern for a house and started cutting 4 1/2" squares from my scraps and stash. I have well over 100 squares cut but I'm not sure how many will be used.
Here is a sneak peek!
I also joined the Elvira Quarantine Quilt Along that was hosted by Gundrun Erla of GE Quilt Designs
Here is what is on my design wall currently.
I have quite a few projects going (which I usually don't do) but I am finding that I have run out of certain basics and I'm waiting for 1) my online order to deliver 2) local quilt shop and fabric stores to reopen.
I have exhausted my limited supply of elastic making masks, my supply of fusible interfacing making a t-shirt quilt (which I can't find anywhere!), Kona cotton fabric in white and spa blue.
I love using my stash but some basics are always in need!
