It's my turn...Day 8 of the Ghastlie Blog Hop!

Thank you all for visiting my blog during Madame Samm’s Ghastlie blog hop. I hope that you all have visited and enjoyed my sistah’s from last week and found some Ghastlie inspiration. I know I did!
I don’t know about you, but I tried to resist the Ghastlie’s sew many times. I had a couple of encounters with the family before succumbing down with the FLU. There is something disturbingly enticing about this family. When Madame Samm announced the Blog Hop I knew that I had been bitten.

So without further delay....my first projects relate to the ghastlie chore of laundry! That never ending chore. As soon as it is done, it starts appearing again.  I  like to hang my laundry outside in the fresh breezes of summer, so I made a clothespin bag.  I had an old bag from my grandma that needed to be replaced and the Ghastlies were the perfect fabric. I just reused the frame. It just makes me smile!

I also found this cute clothespin apron pattern. The front features the Ghastlie family as they dine.
The pocket is deep to hold many clothespins...or maybe some treats for the trick or treaters!
Yep, that’s what it was used for this Halloween!

Edit: I had many request for the apron pattern. I followed the tutorial here with a few adjustments to the pattern.

Next, I made this clever cover for a bucket.
It has plenty of room inside to tote your projects around.  It is big enough for more than one project! The pockets around the outside of the bucket keep all your supplies close at hand.
It is cleverly made to slip right over a standard bucket (I purchased at Lowes).  This bucket has already been on several outings!

Miss Helga Broomswell is watching over my projects.

Hmmm...what’s next?
Before I really began quilting, I made garden banners for the many seasons/holidays.
I thought the I would welcome the trick or treaters this Halloween
with a new Ghastlie welcoming banner.
I wonder what brew those witches are cooking up!

Some of my smaller Ghastlie projects include these pin cushions...one starring dear Prudence and the other features the knitters...and a small zippered bag.

Gotta love Prudence and the knitting sistahs!

This pattern was adapted from the Sweet Zip pattern by Terrie Atkinson. I made it bigger to accommodate the Ghastlie characters and added the handle.

I hope you enjoyed my Ghastlie projects.  Now be sure to comment on this blog post as I will be randomly selecting one name from them to forward to Madame Samm for today’s grand prize drawing. That name will be drawn tonight and the winner will be announced tomorrow over at Madame Samm’s blog, Sew I Quilt. The winner will need to pay postage.
I will also be having 2 giveaways right here.
The first giveaway is the pin cushion starring dear Prudence. The second giveaway is
the small zippered bag. If you would like a chance to win one of these Ghastlie creations,
tell me so in your comment. Although you do not have to be a follower of my blog to win,
I surely would love you to become one.
Please make sure that I have a way to get in touch with you (or I will need to select a new winner).
I will draw the winners (for my giveaway) at 10 pm Nov. 4th (CST).

The first random number will  get the pin cushion and the second number generated will get the zippered bag. Good luck to all!

Be sure to visit the rest of my Ghastlie sistah’s blogs posting their Ghastlie creations and leave comments to win prizes. Here is today’s links.

Thank you for all the wonderful comments...still coming in :D I probably won't be able to get back to each of you individually but I read them all and really appreciate all the love.  Stay tuned for my drawing  this Friday.
Special praises to Madame Samm for all her effort in putting
together another FUN blog activity!
She is kind!

Getting things done!

I was suppose to participate in the Friday Night Sew-In last Friday but I had forgotten that my DH and I had signed up to volunteer at the local homeless shelter.  I still wanted needed to get something done so I packed my knitting needles and some yarn.  Off we went to the shelter.  We serve on the 5:45 - 11:00pm shift.  We set up the beds, tables for serving dinner and breakfast, register the guests and then settle down to play games and mingle with the guests.  So once all the work was done and we settled down to mingle with the guests, I got out my knitting.  It wasn't the best place to knit as I got distracted and had to do my share of unknitting!  I got about 1/3 of another headband knitted.  Better than nothing! [This has been finished and another one started!]

Then on Saturday, the internet was down so I couldn't blog or link to FNSI.  Well there is going to be another FNSI this Friday, maybe I will do better.

Anyways, I have been busy getting things done!  I made a bed ruffle for the new queen size bed in my D2's room.  She will be home next week for Christmas and the room is shaping up [but far from finished!]

Sorry for the poor quality picture...the fabric is plum with a small green leafy print.  I used the tutorial here which gave a great tip on gathering for ruffles.

I also made 4 new stockings! The pattern is called Snowdrift Stockings and was free from Jillilystudio.

I just love how they turned out...all hung on the chimney with care!
One for each of  my Ds and one for my FSI.

Do you see My Perfect Man quilt hung with my snowman collection?  My collection has grown so large over the years that I need to leave a few unpacked each year!

Another Christmas tradition my family has each year is the handmade ornament exchange.  I usually make between 12-18 ornaments each year.  This year's ornament is finished!
[It's the gingerbread house]

All the ornaments on our tree [with a couple exceptions] are handmade.  Here are a few of my favorites!
And I made another sweet zip bag for someone!

Before I forget again, I want to give credit to a couple of people from my last posting.  I was in such a hurry that I forgot to link to the patterns I used...so here they are...
~the place mats were made from a tutorial at Pink Penguin
~the first table runner was made from Amy's tutorial at Diary of a Quilter
~the Christmas table runner was made from Kristin's tutorial at Kristin La Flamme

Now all is good!

I still have things to do but I am getting closer.
Cookies are getting baked and the house is nearly ready.
We host the dessert stop on our annual Troll Stroll this year on Sunday!

Hope you are taking time to enjoy the Christmas Season!

Blog Hops and more!

The past week has been full of blog visits!  There was the blog hop sponsored by Pat Sloan featuring her new rulers. Did you know there are marshmallow fields around?  Several of the hosts spotted them!

Then the Fall O Ween blog hop featuring 10 designer! This hop is sponsored by Gudrun. What fun this has been! Tomorrow is the last day!  Projects and recipes and challenges!  Here is a little of what I've done.

I have managed to make one of the projects but plan for more!

And I took on the challenge to take pictures for inspiration! Love orange!! I have a few more I'll be sharing later!

And I couldn't resist making the Apple Pizza!  It was yummy! Many more recipes to try!

Another blog hop going on right now is the Fall into Fall Giveaways! You can go here to get the list of participating blogs! Hop on over to get your chance to win some amazing prizes!

One of my projects have been to make these mittens out of recycled wool sweaters. I felt the sweaters, cut and sew them together. Lined with fleece makes them very warm!  I made several pairs last year.  My DD2 and future SIL requested these.

This weekend we head up to Door County, WI to camp, hike and enjoy the fall colors! More to share when I get back!  Happy Fall!
