This weeks round for the SAHRR is diamonds chosen by Emily from The Darling Dogwood. As I mentioned in my last post, diamonds are tricky so I ordered a ruler. It came this afternoon so I was able to work some magic on my block! Here is my block after adding this round.

SAHRR and diamonds

Filler sewing
I'm at a place where I have time to spare while I wait on a few things.
I'm working on a wedding quilt (sneak peek in last post) and the flimsy is done but I need to get backing fabric.
I am also waiting on a fabric order to start the quilt my daughter picked for our granddaughter (due in May)!
The SAHRR for this week is diamonds and after doing much research on making diamonds and doing some practice, I decided to order a ruler. I don't order specialty rulers very often but diamonds are tricky. I remember when I made a Storm at Sea quilt (when I was a fairly new quilter...what was I thinking?) and how difficult it was.

SAHRR Week ~ Round 1 and other things
Monday began Round 1 of SAHRR for 2022!
Anja's choice to start this year is..the curved-block. Now I don't do much curved piecing so I hemmed and hawed about what I wanted to do. I knew I wanted to try to keep each round to no more than 3". My original thought would have needed a filler border to make the size work out. I scraped that idea but I had already added the borders. My final decision was to just add a drunkard's path block to each corner. To make it more interesting, I pieced the bars between each corner in opposite colors from the drunkard's path block. This round nicely frames the original block.

SAHRR2022 Center Block
Last year I participated in the SAHRR (Stay at Home Round Robin) challenge hosted by Quilting Gail. Seeing that COVID is not over yet, the round robin will once again be conducted at home.
Each week starting next Monday, one of 6 quilting friends will announce the round. Last year we did piano keys, plus, flying geese, checkerboard, wonky stars, and log cabin blocks. After the announcement, it is up to you how you add the round to your quilt.
Last year was the first time that I participated in a round robin and it was fun seeing how different everyone's turned out.
This year I will use an orphaned block for my center square.

First Finish of 2022
I finished my 2nd RSC quilt from 2021 ~ Wonky Shoo Fly! It turned out even better than I expected! A few nights ago, I finally sat down to bind the quilt and finish up with hand stitching.
Have fun, stay warm and safe!
